portraits: 30 Americans & the Bearden Project
I had the pleasure of seeing 30 Americans at the Corcoran Gallery of Art over MLK weekend in DC. It’s a beautiful show, and I got the closest I’ve ever been to a Basquiat in real life.

Also, the Studio Museum in Harlem has an impressive exhibition of contemporary artists’ reflections on Romare Bearden, a tribute to the influential master on the occasion of the centennial of his birth. I’m loving these new ink&collage pieces by Lorna Simpson.

30 Americans is up until February 12th, don’t miss it. Check out the Bearden Project before it’s gone, too.
